Hindi Unicode Typing Worksheet: 5 Original Practice Passages
Practise Unicode Hindi typing with five original passages, vowel-mark and punctuation review, input setup steps and a printable practice worksheet.

Five Hindi passages with a different review focus
This Hindi Unicode typing worksheet supplies five original passages about everyday activities: a reading room, a school garden, a classroom exhibition, a shared reading session and a volunteer handover. Use them to practise copying readable Devanagari text and to review one pattern at a time. The instructions are in English so that you can follow the setup steps alongside the site's controls; the practice text is in Hindi.
These are fictional learning passages written for this worksheet. They are not official examination paragraphs or previous-year papers. A short passage is a focused copying exercise rather than proof of speed across a full test. If you are learning a new input method, begin by entering the text comfortably before deciding whether a timer is useful.
Prepare your input method and the reference
Open the Hindi typing practice tool, then check that the language selector shows Hindi. Selecting Hindi on the site chooses the practice language; you also need a working Hindi input method on your device. First type a harmless phrase such as पुस्तकालय का कमरा in a plain text editor and check that it appears as readable Hindi. The Hindi keyboard setup guide explains the site's input and legacy-font limitations.
Expand Choose practice type, select My own paragraph, and copy only the Hindi passage into the setup field. Select Use this paragraph before typing your answer. Omit the heading and the English instructions. The separate answer field blocks pasted answers, so use your keyboard or normal input method to enter the reference yourself.
Allow backspace while becoming familiar with a new input method, and record that setting. The selected two-minute limit is a practice choice. The attempt can end sooner when you reach the reference length; its result uses the actual elapsed time. You can join the five Hindi passages with spaces to create a longer reference, but that does not guarantee a full two-minute attempt. Keep the input method, keyboard and correction setting the same when comparing sessions.
Passage 1: the reading room
Review the reference's vowel marks in किताबें and चाहिए, then the ending of रजिस्टर. Inspect the spaces surrounding each word and the final punctuation. If a mark differs, compare the committed answer with the reference before assuming that the whole word must be retyped faster. Choose one troublesome word for a slow drill, then return to the sentence containing it.
Passage 2: the school garden
Review word endings in बच्चों, पत्तियों and लिखीं. These forms are deliberately part of the reference, so copy them as shown rather than replacing them with a familiar form. Read the full word before committing your answer. If your input method offers candidate words, check the selected candidate instead of assuming that the first suggestion matches the passage.
Passage 3: the classroom exhibition
Review the complete words प्रदर्शनी, विद्यार्थियों and स्पष्ट. Avoid judging a composed word from a partly entered candidate that has not yet been committed. Take a short pause before a difficult word if needed, then inspect the final comparison. A visual syllable and a physical key press are different things; use these words to investigate your input sequence rather than to estimate official key-depression speed.
Passage 4: a shared reading session
This passage uses ordinary straight double quotation marks around speech, a comma, a question mark and the Hindi danda. Preserve the reference's punctuation instead of replacing every sentence ending with an English full stop. Check the question पढ़ूँ? and the final word जाँची. The Unicode Devanagari chart lists the characters used in this script, including the danda; it is a character reference, not a keyboard instruction sheet.
Passage 5: a volunteer handover
Review the words कुर्सियाँ, जाँची and पुष्टि, then check the spaces around कौन सा and the complete word स्वयंसेवक. If your input suggestions offer alternative wording, compare the committed result with the supplied reference. The task is to match this passage, including its spaces and endings.
Make a small review record
Record the passage number, chosen duration, actual elapsed time, input method, backspace setting and one difference to investigate. An observation such as missing the ending in किताबें is more specific than a note saying only poor accuracy. This is an example of a review note, not a claim about a learner's score.
Compare the committed answer, especially when an input method assembles a word before confirmation. Suggestions, transliteration and physical-keyboard layouts can involve different actions even when the final text looks similar. Use the same setup for your own comparisons, and check the scoring explanation before comparing Hindi practice WPM with another platform. The site's standard word uses five normalised Unicode code points; it is not a count of visible syllables or physical keystrokes.
Move from a repeated word to fresh text
Practise a difficult word carefully, then use a new sentence containing a similar pattern. A memorised passage can feel smoother simply because you know what comes next, so include unfamiliar material in later attempts. The seven-day accuracy plan offers a routine for selecting and reviewing one pattern at a time.
You can use Print / Save PDF to keep this worksheet. When copying practice text from a saved PDF, compare it with the page to ensure that extraction has not changed spaces, quotation marks or vowel signs. If the input behaves unexpectedly, use Contact to report your browser, input method and a short invented example. Keep personal records and other people's private information out of the practice field and support message.
